Julie says: "The above are examples that I experience regularly in my general practice. I have a lot of energy for my work and one of the most important things to me is that, regardless of the situation you are in, my job as a therapist is to support you emotionally throughout. I am there to assess how you are coping and enable you to move on in your own time - feeling stronger."
She sees many clients through their workplace-counselling scheme, Employment Assistance Programme. (EAP). She works with AXA-ICAS and insurance companies.
I first consulted Julie 2 1/2 years ago, when I recognised the pressures of a failing second marriage, grief from the recent rather sudden death of my father which left me parent-less, and a highly stressful, consistently pressurised work environment all needed addressing. Through an intensive period of counselling, Julie proved a consistent source of support, helping me to understand and articulate my experiences of emotion as I lived through marital separation, medical diagnosis for triggered depression and consequent sign-off from work, and the loss of my father, whilst striving to remain constant and growing in my close and active relationship with my sons from my first marriage.
Julie is an active, participative listener - she always checks me to ask how I feel about a particular situation or event as I explain this in a session. Without at all feeling intrusive, her approach in making me articulate my emotional responses has enabled me to understand and accept them in a way that has helped me rebuild my confidence in who I am.
Julie has continued to support me through further major transitions as I left my 30-years career in the City and started to enrich my life through extensive travelling, cultural activity and building new relationships across the world. I am about to embark on another major transition by moving to another, distant country to pursue my cultural interests. With her careful, occasionally provocative, sometimes humorous and always warmly professional counselling, Julie has supported my emergence from depression and preparedness for, and growth into a new, calm and confident way of living"
