The Mind and Body programme at the Reebok Sports Club is second to none. We offer 19 Yoga Classes a week and 10 different styles of yoga for people of all abilities. In addition, the club runs pilates and a number of interesting fusion classes. There is no additional cost for any of the Mind and Body classes.
This class is ideal for beginners or anyone revisiting the basic principles of pilates. A well balanced flowing series of stretching and strengthening exercises taught slowly and precisely. This will allow the body to be less tense, strong and more supple.
This class consists of stretching and strengthening exercises and uses the principles of pilates. It focuses on improving concentration, co-ordination and breathing though a series of well-balanced and flowing movements using control and precision.
It strengthens the deep muscles which support the spine, develops core strength, and increases your overall strength and flexibility.
POWER PILATES (B)
This is a very slow paced class focusing on improving muscle tone, joint mobility and core stability. Using elastic bands and pilates rings to deliver even better results, it is suitable for all fitness levels.
PILATES CONDITIONING (B)
This class blends the principles of pilates with more traditional body conditioning exercises to give the abdominals and core muscles a thorough workout.
A more advanced pilates class offering a range of challenging exercise options, this is ideal for more experienced participants who are familiar with the principles of pilates.
A 30 minute class of well-balanced and flowing series of stretching and strengthening exercises.
Taking Pilates a step further. An intense and dynamic but equivalently fun class involving the occasional use of props. It improves posture, stretches and combines different muscle groups during the exercises to build lean and toned muscles faster. All levels welcome.
YOGA ANTE NATAL (B)
This class uses all the traditional principles of yoga but is tailor-made for pregnancy. It will de-stress and re-energise the body in preparation for birth.
YOGA ENERGY (B)
This is the perfect way to get you going in the morning. Full of awakening, refreshing yoga movements and poses which will leave your mind alert and your body invigorated, ready to face the day ahead.
Vinyasa means 'flowing with the breath'. This class is about moving between postures to create heat and develop strength and wraps up with deeper releasing postures.
VINYASA FLOW YOGA
This style is smooth and synchronised to the breath, which becomes an important component as the teacherwill instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale and exhale.
SPORT SPECIFIC YOGA (B)
Sessions are designed with sports people in mind, but are beneficial physically and mentally for anyone, from complete beginners to yoga experts. Typically a sport specific class incorporates general mobilisation of the joints, core awareness, balancing and dynamic techniques, followed by performance breathing and restorative techniques.
YOGA DYNAMIC HATHA (B)
This class is about the balance of strength and softness. Dynamic and strengthening postures are blended with breath work and deep stretches leaving a feeling of calm centeredness.
YOGA HATHA (B)
This is the most accessible form of yoga and is particularly good for beginners. It includes poses, some dynamic movement, lots of posture work plus breathing and relaxation techniques.
YOGA HOLISTIC (B)
Yoga Holistic is a balanced, gentle practice ideal for those new to yoga, returning from injury or even athletes who feel inflexible. It uses asana, pranayama and meditation techniques throughout the session.
This class is a more gentle form of yoga suitable for all levels. The poses are linked together to create flowing and calming patterns which are practised at a comfortable pace. Using various breathing techniques this class is perfect to decrease stress levels as well as calming your mind and body.
An intense but simple experience that flows step-by-step towards a goal (vinyasa karma) using your breath as a guide. The emphasis is on alignment, re-structuring posture and increasing strength and flexibility. This class is not for the faint hearted.
A synergy of mind, body and spirit, Yoga Dynamic focuses on body alignment through dynamic movement. It combines set poses, sun salutations and breathing exercises. The structure of the class will allow you to practice and learn the poses at a comfortable pace, making sure your body is aligned correctly.
