Healthy Heart Promotion

During February every year charities and health organisations all over the nation are promoting heart health. Recent studies showed that heart disease in this country has reduced. This is due to national awareness campaigns just like this one. There was still 88,236 deaths in the UK from heart disease in 2008, and 12,500 of these dying before the age of 65 highlighting that there is still a great deal of work to do.

To help create more awareness and to improve the health of The Reebok Sports Club population, the Wellness Centre will be offering £50 Heart Health checks (RRP £69) all week (13-29th Feb) for members only. This will include a full lipid profile detailing cholesterol and fats levels in the blood, a glucose (blood sugar) check, blood pressure, body composition including body fat % and BMI, and nutrition and exercise guidance. All these tests will show if you have any risk and how you can limit these risk factors in the future. Please drop into our centre this week or come and see us outside the main Reebok reception on Valentine's day for more information and to book.

Fasting and non-fasting cholesterol & glucose testing is available, with one to one coaching from a trained healthcare advisor.

Metabolic Profiling

A graded exercise test complete with a 12 lead Electrocardiogram. During the treadmill or bike test in our lab, a gas analysis profile will allow Healthcare Advisors to prescribe you with precise heart rates for you to work between. These intensities will induce a maximal increase in your cardiovascular efficiency, and therefore improve your performance. After your test you will be given a comprehensive set of results which will allow your fitness trainer to tailor your exercise program to your individual requirements using specific training heart rates.

Cancer Screens

Bowel Cancer; 1 in 20 people in the UK will develop bowel cancer during their lifetime, call into the Wellness Centre to pick up your take home self test pack.

Prostate Cancer; one of the most common cancer’s in men, taken via a blood test, results will be back to you within 48 hours with a clear decision whether further testing is needed.
